The following are some of the education streams comprised in Civil Engineering:
More than 500 graduate students from around the world are enrolled in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the School of Mining and Petroleum Engineering degree programs. The Department & School offer graduate students specialized research degree programs leading to three graduate degree programs: Master of Science (MSc), Master of Engineering (MEng), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Our research groups have access to many unique, state-of-the-art laboratories, an excellent support network, and an active and integrative local industry.

Our Department is home to many world leaders in their disciplines, including six NSERC Industrial Research Chairs, the Nanofibre Research Chair in Forest Products, the C.W. Carry Professor of Steel Structures, the MCAA Chair in Masonry Systems and a Canada Research Chair in Natural Resources Uncertainty Management, among many others who are active, internationally-recognized leaders in their research areas.
